MediRemind is developed by Ovara Tech (ABN 43 324 331 038). We are committed to making medication management accessible to everyone. This Accessibility Statement describes our approach to digital accessibility for the MediRemind mobile application and website.
We believe that digital health tools should be usable by all Australians, including those with disabilities. MediRemind is designed with accessibility as a core principle, not a compliance checkbox. Our target users include older Australians, people with visual impairments, people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and individuals with limited dexterity, and we design for these users first.
We design and test both the MediRemind app and website against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and are working towards full WCAG 2.2 conformance. These standards apply across our mobile app (iOS and Android) and our website. Conformance is an ongoing target we test against, not a certified guarantee — see “How We Assess Accessibility” and “Known Limitations” below.
Screen Reader Support: MediRemind is designed to work with VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android). We aim for interactive elements to have descriptive accessibility labels, and for app navigation to follow a logical reading order.
Dynamic Text: MediRemind is designed to respect your device's system font size settings, and to scale text with iOS Dynamic Type and Android font scale settings.
Voice Control: The app is designed to support iOS Voice Control and Android Voice Access for hands-free navigation, with key features triggerable by voice commands.
High Contrast: MediRemind is designed to support iOS Increase Contrast and Reduce Transparency settings, and we test our text and UI colours against WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios.
Reduced Motion: Animations are designed to be suppressed when Reduce Motion is enabled in device settings.
Touch Targets: We design interactive elements to meet the 44×44pt minimum touch target size recommended by Apple and Google.
Hearing Accessibility: Medication reminders are designed to be multi-modal — paired with an on-screen visual alert and (where enabled) device vibration, not sound alone, so reminders are usable by people who are deaf or hard of hearing, or who keep their device muted. Reminder sound, vibration, and visual alert settings can be adjusted independently in your device notification settings.
Our website is built with semantic HTML, ARIA labels where appropriate, keyboard navigation, and colour contrast we test against WCAG 2.1 AA. We are working towards full WCAG 2.2 conformance.
Our accessibility features are currently verified through internal self-assessment against WCAG 2.1 AA criteria, rather than a completed independent third-party audit. We are working towards a formal third-party accessibility audit and will update this statement with the auditor and date once complete. If you rely on a specific feature above and want to confirm its current status before use, contact us using the details below.
We are continually improving accessibility, and not every screen has been independently verified against every WCAG 2.1 AA criterion. Some third-party payment interfaces (operated by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store) may not be fully accessible, and we are working with those providers to address this. If you encounter any barrier, including one not listed here, please let us know so we can investigate and fix it.
This statement describes the accessibility features we design and test into MediRemind — it does not guarantee a specific accessibility outcome in every combination of device, operating system version, assistive technology, and personal settings, many of which are outside our control. Accessibility also depends in part on choices you make, such as which device you use, your operating system's accessibility settings, whether you keep the app updated, and how you configure notifications and permissions. We are not responsible for accessibility limitations caused by third-party hardware, operating systems, assistive technology, browsers, or app stores, or by a device that is outdated, modified, or misconfigured. Nothing in this statement limits any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. If you experience any barriers while using MediRemind, or have suggestions for how we can improve accessibility, please contact us at accessibility@mediremind.com.au. If email is not accessible for you, you can also reach us in-app via Settings → Help & Support. We take all accessibility feedback seriously and aim to respond within 3 business days.
If you believe you have experienced discrimination on the basis of disability in connection with MediRemind, you have the right to raise this with us directly using the contact details above, and you also have the right to make a complaint to the Australian Human Rights Commission under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth), independently of contacting us.
